Theatre & Dance

The Diary of a Mulberry Tree is a dance-theatre work written and directed by Nadine Abou Zaki, first presented at Al Madina Theatre in Beirut in 2017 and later developed at Hammana Artist House in 2018. Inspired by the Lebanese Civil War and Eastern philosophy, the work gives voice to a mulberry tree that bears witness to the intimate lives and conflicts unfolding around it. Through dance, narration, poetry and music, the performance explores memory, nature, human violence and our relationship with the living world.
