Do trees have memory or consciousness? Can they communicate with their environment and respond emotionally to human beings? Inspired by the Lebanese Civil War and Hindu philosophy, the book gives voice to a mulberry tree that bears witness to the intimate daily lives of those around it. Through this non-human perspective, it explores memory, violence, nature and our responsibility towards the living world.
